Lions finish 9th at Hardscrablle Invite

The Missouri Southern women’s golf finished up their final round in the Hardscrabble Invitational at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

In their final regular season tournament of the year before the MIAA tournament the Lions placed ninth.

The Lions brought four women with them this tournament: junior Elizabeth Poe, freshman Kylie Carnes, freshman Maggie Moore and junior Taylor Boyett. 

The Lions will play 36 holes on Monday and finish out the last round on Tuesday while only playing 18. 

After Monday, the Lions were tied for ninth place and Carnes was tied for 24th. Carnes shot an 8 the first round, and later that day hit a 77 to finish out the second round to have a total score of 160. Moore shot a 172, Poe shot a 198, and Boyett shot a 223. The Lions shot 753 as a team after day one.

Going into day two, the Lions look to move up in the rankings. Carnes placed 31st while shooting a 244 overall, and closely behind her was Moore placed 35th while shooting a 252, Poe placed 44th while shooting a 298, and Boyett placed 45th while shooting 324. 

Texas A&M Commerce ended up taking the team title home, followed by Arkansas Fort Smith at second, and Rogers State at third. 

The Women’s golf team will take this week off and prepare for the MIAA Championships in Mayetta, Kansas. 

The Men’s team has been preparing for their final regular season tournament, The SBU Classic in Bolivar, Missouri. That tournament starts on Monday, April 15, and continues on Tuesday, April 16.
