Club’s food campaign makes holiday brighter

Helping out the community, Missouri Southern’s German Club is sponsoring a canned food drive with boxes distributed across the campus.

The boxes are distributed in: Billingsly Student Center, Mills Anderson Justice Center, Spiva Library, Plaster Hall, Webster Hall, and Reynolds Hall.

“We have about 100 cans right now,” said Gwyn Roberts, junior German major. The club started the food drive on Thursday Nov. 1 and will end Tuesday Nov. 20 before the Thanksgiving break.

“It is a can food drive but we will accept whatever non-perishable items that people want to donate,” Roberts said. She said the club has received other non-perishables, such as instant mashed potatoes and noodles.

The German Club seized their opportunity to do the canned food drive and give back to the community. Roberts said they wanted to think of a way to make some families Thanksgiving have one more reason to be thankful.
