Radiology Bowl team captures fourth

The Missouri Southern Radiology Bowl team won a fourth place award at the annual Missouri Society of Radiologic Technology Student Bowl Competition April 16 in Osage Beach. There were 13 teams competing.

After winning the first round, MSSU led most of the way through the final round, but fell behind toward the end of the round.

Only two points separated MSSU from the top team. The second round ended with a third place tie between St. John’s from Springfield and MSSU.

This required the traditional “Sudden Roentgen Death” playoff round to determine third versus fourth place. This marks the second time in three years that the MSSU team has won an award at the competition.

“I am very proud of our group and that means the entire class,” said Alan Schiska, radiology department chair. “They were all there rooting for each other.

This is every bit as important as any athletic competition event win. After all, academics is the primary mission of our institution and our kids brought distinction to themselves and MSSU.”
