Tennis team falls to SBU, faces Fort Hays State
Despite strong performances from sophomores Kati Anderson and Alex Lewis, the Missouri Southern tennis team fell to Southwest Baptist March 31. The Lions lost 9-0 at the Millenium Tennis Club in Joplin.
Anderson lost to Jolee Cook in four sets, while Lewis lost to Jenna Hendrickson in two sets 6-0, 6-1.
Anderson and Lewis also teamed up in the doubles competition, but lost to Cook and Johanna Olsson in one set, 8-1.
Freshman Becca Sterling was defeated by Trist Moceo.
During spring break, Southern lost to Truman State University, 8-1.
Anderson had the only win for the Lions. She defeated Lindsy Blair in two sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Missouri Southern is now 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA.
The Lions will play at 11:30 a.m. April 9 at Fort Hays State University.
