Some services make move

With the opening of the Beimdiek Student Recreation Center comes office moves for some campus services.

Among these are the Student Health Center, Student Services, the Campus Activities Board (CAB), the Wellness Center, and the bookstore.

Jan Dipley, the director of the Student Health Center, showed much excitement about the move.

“I’ve been in Kuhn Hall for 11 years and it’s mind-boggling how much room we have now,” she said. “It’s more like a university health center.”

The Health Center now has a large waiting room, five exam rooms, and one treatment room, compared to only having three exam rooms in the past. Dipley said students will now be seen quicker due to the expansion.

Beginning today, the Student Health Center will begin offering 15-minute chiropractic adjustments to students, faculty and staff members. Sessions are available between 8 a.m. and noon on Friday mornings during the fall semester. Cost of the sessions is $20 per visit and can be paid by cash or check. These chiropractic adjustments will be provided by Dr. Herb Waring, a local chiropractor. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are preferred due to the limited time Waring is on campus. To make an appointment, students are asked to call 417-625-9323.

The manager of the MSSU bookstore, Greg Needham, also noted improvements.

“[The bookstore] has a better image, is more impressive, and better located,” Needham said.

The bookstore now offers movies, candy, snacks, school supplies, clothing, novelty toys, and, of course, books.

The amount of change for these departments was summed up by Dipley.

“It’s black and white – and it’s white over here,” she said.
