Several people have told me that I have very negative views; therefore I shall try to appease the happy majority with something more positive.
I like kittens.
Now back to regularly scheduled “Why You Suck” column.
Why is it that people feel they need to change others? In a country where individuality is given so much lip service, we seem to give a lot up to be part of a group; to fit in; to be normal, what ever the hell that may mean.
I recently asked a teacher how a person rises in social standings without sacrificing their integrity. He said, in a nutshell, that it would be difficult, if at all possible.
Then I asked myself, “Do people give up their personality and special-ness to survive in a group?”
“Yes,” resounded like a bullet in an echo chamber. “This is why people do it, but it still doesn’t explain why others want to change me.”
Well, I don’t bring others down, nor do I try to. I have a darker view on the truth which I share, but I leave it up to others interpretation how they will handle it. Accept it, leave it or mix it up with whatever you want. Just don’t expect me to make a sermon out of it.
I agree with letting people be happy with the way they are, even if it seems to be constant self-torture, personal grieving and endless suffering.
Therefore, the next time you feel it is necessary to tell me to stop wearing black, listening to heavy metal music (the last time I heard this I was listening to Fleetwood Mac) or what I can do to improve my world view, just remember that I don’t want any part of your normalness and that you can keep your boring wzombie lives.
I will remind you of this column if you decided not to remember that I have written this. You have been warned.
