CAB preps for Homecoming

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) met Wednesday, Sept. 9, to discuss upcoming events, including Homecoming and the beginning of its movie series.

Last week’s comedian, Kyle Dunnigan, was well received by the CAB members. One issue with Dunnigan’s performance was brought up by Nathan Hicks, junior political science major.

“There was a 13-year-old in the audience. [Dunnigan] censored himself. You could tell he was really holding back,” Hicks said.

The CAB plans to try to control the age of the audience for future comedian performances.

Monday, Sept. 14 will be the first showing of the CAB movie series. The movie will be The Proposal, starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

The Proposal is a romantic comedy about a demanding Canadian boss (Bullock) who, when she discovers she may be deported, lies about her engagement to her assistant (Reynolds). The Proposal was directed by Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses) and released in June 2009.

The Proposal will be showing Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m.

A rough T-shirt design was presented for the Homecoming shirts that will be passed out to students. The CAB members voted on the shirt designs that will be sent to be professionally made. The winning shirt will be “sports grey” in color and will read “TEAM MOSO” on the front in green and gold letters. The Missouri Southern lion will also be featured on the front bottom center of the shirt. The back of the shirt will read “Homecoming 2009.”

The CAB Homecoming float was also a major point of the meeting. The float will go along with the Homecoming theme of “Go for the green! Go for the gold!” Other decisions were made, but the final result for the float will be left as a surprise for Homecoming week.

Homecoming week is Sept. 21-26 and scheduled events can be found at the MSSU Alumni Association Web site at www.mssu.edu/ alumni/Homecoming.htm.
