Local artist Jeremy Haun has made a lot of news recently.

Over the past few years he has worked his way up the comic book industry, having several Batman titles published with his artwork in the past year and recently signing a contract with Top Cow that will have him working on one of their flagship titles as well. This month, several panes of his artwork line the walls of Spiva Art Gallery at Missouri Southern.

“It’s going to have approximately 60 pieces of my comic art,” Haun said. “It spans the time that I’ve worked in comics from the beginning of my independent black and work into later works with Detective Comics working with Batman and things like that.”

The show opened last Friday and an appearance from Haun is still in the process of being arranged.

“We’re still nailing that down,” he said. “In the next day or so, it could end up being toward probably the end of the show.

“I’ll be there for the opening or closing, whatever it ends up being of the show. It’s going to be, I don’t know if I’ll be talking formally but I’ll be there just as an artist mingling and hanging out and talking about my work.”

The exhibit displays a variety of titles, including recent pieces from Gotham Sirens, to older works on lesser known series such as Battle Hymn and Shapewalker.

“We really went through and tried to pick out a variety of my work over that time period,” Haun said.  “There are a lot of things in there that really exemplify my progress over the past decade.”

The exhibit will be open through March 11 in the Spiva Art Gallery. Admission is free.
