The Missouri Southern track and field teams competed last weekend in the Mule Relays at Central Missouri.

The men’s team received two wins and four top three finishes over the weekend.

Erron Holley won the 200m in a time of 22.31, and also placed fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.03. Anthony Price finished second in the 400m, while Miles Migliara and Drew Buckner both placed fifth in the 600y and 800m.

Tylor Albright and Darion Boure placed third and fifth in the long jump, with Albright jumping the distance of 22-07.75 and Boure finishing two inches behind.

Thrower Kylie Cornman picked up two provisionals and a win for the women’s track team.

She won the shot put with a provisional distance of 45-07.00, then placed third in the weight throw with another provisional distance of 53-05.50.

Head Coach Patty Vavra said, “This past weekend was a bit of a bridge into the completion of the season after a good meet at home, but then we started getting some sicknesses and a few injuries, so it was a really good weekend for us at Central Missouri to kind of pull back and enter one or two events and let them isolate that event that they are best at and try to see if we can get some qualifying performances that could get us to the National meet.”

Kaylee Morgan won the long jump in a distance of 18-00.25, leading teammates Brittani Regan and Taitum Mead, who placed second and third.

Sydney Potts won the 600y in a time of 1:28.08, while Ashleigh McFarland placed third in the pole vault with a height of 11-05.75.

Vavra said, “Potts ran very well while she competed in a tightly matched 600y run and got caught in the pack early but was able to run by everyone in the straightaway and overcome the group and win that event.”

Reagan also placed second in the triple jump with a provisional distance of 38-09.00, while Mahogany Jones placed fourth in the event.

Whitney Hardy was third in the high jump with a height of 5-05.00.

She said, “It was an okay jump, not anything special, but I have been consistent this season, so that’s good. I changed my approach Monday, which is different than it has ever been in college, so as my last year, it is a little bit scary, but I will use that approach this coming Saturday to see if I can’t get a better mark.”

The Lions will be in action next weekend in the UCO Invite.
