Track team continues to glide through indoor season

Southern track had a good weekend at the Nebraska Tune-up and Central Missouri Classic.

Amber White continued her streak and picked up a provisional in the 400m, finishing fourth with a time of 56.17. Emily Harris picked up a provisional in the 800m, finishing third with a time of 2:15.99.  

Kaitlyn Belisle won the 3k with a provisional time of 10:08.52, while Emberton and Harris placed sixth and 12th, respectively.  Last week’s MIAA Women’s Track player of the week Brittani Reagan finished third in the triple jump with a provisional mark of 38-04.25, while Shelby Newell and White placed sixth and seventh, respectively.

Jeff Fraley started things off by winning the 60m dash with a provisional time of 6.76 for the men.

Erron Holley finished fifth in the 200m with a provisional time of 21.79, while Fraley placed fifth  in the 400m. Fraley’s time of 48.89 is a provisional, giving him a provisional time in the 60m, 200m and now 400m.

Eric Schott placed third in the 5k with a provisional time of 14:27.41, while Alex Mason and Adrian Todd placed eighth and 14th.

Jazz Allen was 10th in the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.43, while the 4x400m relay team of Fraley, Price, Holley and Migliara placed sixth in the event with a time of 3:21.14.

“We’re unstopable right now,” said Allen.  “We’re going to give everybody a show next weekend, point blank.”

Michael Juergens and Brady Melugin both picked up provisionals in the pole vault.

Darion Boure picked up a provisional in the triple jump, earning second place with a distance of 47-01.75.

At Central Missouri, Bryan Burns placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 47-06.25, and Nicklas Piolizzi was eighth in the weight throw.

The Lions return to action next weekend as they play host to the 2014 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
