Track and Field

Head Coach Patty Vavra and the women of the Southern track and field team have done nothing short of take care of business.

Meet after meet the Lions put themselves at the top of the list in provisionals and event victories behind the strong performances of athletes like junior Amber White, sophomore Brittani Reagan and senior Kylie Cornman.

With strong leadership and an immense amount of young talent, the Lions seem to have found the key mixture to take the MIAA and Division II by storm. The team accumulated nine provisional marks and one automatic berth in the most recent meet at home in Fred G. Hughes Stadium last weekend.

It was another strong showing for a group ready to make a significant splash in the year ending MIAA Championships in Jefferson City, another stepping stone for a group that looks to send a profound amount of athletes to the most important meet, the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships beginning May 22.
