Casino comes to Southern

As part of Homecoming week events, the Student Activities Office will host a casino night on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

From 7-10 p.m., students can enjoy classic casino games such as blackjack, craps, Texas Hold ‘Em and roulette. In addition to the table games, students will have the opportunity to enjoy slot machines, a pig race machine and Wheel of Fortune.

“It’s just an event to have fun,” said Craig Gullet, coordinator of Student Activities. “If they’re concerned they don’t know the games and don’t wanna come, it’s not real money. It’s ‘house’ money. It’s just an event to have fun and maybe you can learn some games too.”

In addition to games, snacks and drinks will be served and there will be several opportunities for students to win prizes. In the past, prizes have included Xboxes, televisions, DVD players and gift cards.

“This is the fifth year in a row,” Gullet said. “We’re really hoping to turn this into a tradition.”

Attendance at these events will count towards Greek Laurel standings, as well as RES Cup Standings.
