Witnessing your fellow students dance and be silly in front of a large audience while under hypnosis is not something you see often, but on Tuesday, Sept. 23, Missouri Southern students will have a chance to see that happen. The Missouri Southern Campus Activities Board (CAB) is featuring Chris Jones in Corley Auditorium at 7 p.m. His act includes hypnosis, magic and stand-up comedy.

Winner of the 2014 award for Best Variety Artist by the Campus Activities Magazine, Chris Jones has performed his hypnosis act at high schools and universities across the nation. According to http://bass-schuler.com, Jones began to master the art of hypnosis while in graduate school to add to his comedy and magic routines.

Jones has been known to engage the audience by choosing individuals in the crowd to participate in his performance. The volunteers are put under hypnosis and are instructed to do comical actions they would not normally do in front of a large crowd.

Judging by the events featuring hypnotists in the past, CAB is expecting a good turnout.

“No matter how often you see a hypnotist, the show is always different,” said Landon Adams, director of student activities.

Whether you believe in hypnotism or not, he said, the show is going to be a hilarious, fun-packed event that will leave your stomach aching from laughter.
