Junior guard Taevaunn Prince was honored this week as the MIAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week following a victory over Missouri Western. He pulled down 13 boards and scored 26 in the away game.

That performance followed a Southern victory over Northwest Missouri where Prince put up 26 points and 12 rebounds.

The transfer from Toronto has been an influential point of the offensive end for the Lions of late, averaging 22 points and 10.5 rebounds over the past week.

Those statistics are good enough to gain the attention of the MIAA conference, helped in large part by Prince’s work at the charity stripe.

Prince has shot 126 free throws, nearly 40 more than the average number shot by the top 15 in the conference, and has made them at an 84 percent clip, good enough for fifth place in percentage and 106 uncontested points.
