Jury trial scheduled in State v. Jeffrey L. Bruner

The case of Jeffrey L. Bruner is scheduled its first jury trial for 9 a.m. March 24, 2015. Bruner, who was charged with murder in the first degree and armed criminal action after the Nov. 1, 2013, shooting death of Missouri Southern offensive line football coach Derek Moore, is being represented by Charles R. Rhoades of Rhoades Law Office, with Kimberly Fisher representing the prosecution.

With a plea of not guilty, pre-trial motions began Feb. 10 with Circuit Judge Gayle L. Crane presiding. Bruner is currently in the custody of his parents in Greene County, after being approved for a code bond and posting it in full May 12.

According to the Jasper County Circuit Clerk’s Office, the terms of Bruner’s release state:

1.) He is to be placed on electronic monitoring.

2.) He is to live with his parents in Greene County, Mo.

3.) He is not allowed to step foot on the MSSU campus.

4.) He is not allowed to enter Jasper County without the court’s approval, absent a court date.

5.) He is to have no contact with his ex-wife or her family.

6.) He is to have no contact with the family of Moore.

7.) He is not allowed to leave Greene County except for court appearances or to meet with his attorney.

8.) He is not allowed to possess a firearm.

9.) He is not allowed to travel outside of his home without the presence of at least one of his parents.
