This past Saturday before Missouri Southern’s home game against Lincoln University, Southern dedicated their recently finished baseball field to former Head Coach Warren Turner.

The complex was formally christened Warren Turner Field.

Turner is the winningest coach in Southern baseball history and he will add the field dedication to the long list of honors he has received both during his tenure and since retirement.

His accomplishments as a coach are well-known at Southern, as well as across the MIAA and D-II ranks.

During his 31 seasons as head coach at Southern, Turner amassed an unprecedented 852 wins, which is good for 15th on the all-time NCAA wins list across all divisions.

On top of the wins and tournament appearances that came with them, Turner was named conference Coach of the Year on three occasions, NCAA Regional Coach of the Year twice and NAIA National Coach of the Year once.

Since his retirement, Turner has been inducted into the NAIA, ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) and Missouri Sports Hall of Fames.
