The George A. Spiva Center for the Arts recently opened a new exhibit.

The “Off the Wall: Wearable Art!” display opened Sept. 19 and will be available through Nov. 1.

The Spiva Center for the Arts is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. 5, and Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

An opening reception will be held on Oct. 18 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. There is a $5 suggested contribution for attendance.

The “Off the Wall: Wearable Art!” display is described as “fun, funky, elegant and outrageous fashion.”

The display features handmade jewelry and accessories, including full clothing ensembles.

High school students, seamstresses, 3-D artists and professional costumers comprise the artists. In total, there are 59 artists with works on display.

Artists with work on display include Matt Myers, costumer for the Missouri Southern Theatre Department.

This exhibit is presented with financial assistance from the Missouri Arts Council. All pieces on display are also for sale.
