The Kansas City Royals won the 2015 World Series in five games. This is the first championship since 1985.

In grand fashion, the Royals won their first world championship in 30 years, and only the second in franchise history on Sunday night.

On the mound, it was a battle between Edinson Volquez and Matt Harvey.

Between Harvey’s pitching and the New York Mets’ offense, the Mets enjoyed a 2-0 lead over the Royals until the top of the 9th inning when the Royals evened the score.

Into extra innings, hits by Cain, Escobar, Colon and Hosmer kept the line moving and the Royals pulled ahead 7-2.

“We came back and won a world championship,” Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer said in a post-game conference. “Words can’t express how it feels.”

Kansas City won the first two games at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, and went on the road to New York where they dropped game three and won game four.

A celebratory parade in downtown Kansas City will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at noon. Some schools in the Kansas City area have decided to close for Tuesday, however, schools in the KC metro will remain open.

The Kansas City Star says, “The parade will start at noon in front of the Sprint Center and the Power & Light District. Then it will jog north to Ninth Street, east to Oak Street and south to Truman Road before rejoining Grand Boulevard down to Union Station.”

The drumline from Missouri Southern will also be performing in the parade.
