Protesters prove little following shooting in Chicago

Last week, protesters in Chicago proved to everyone, once again, how ignorant they actually are. Their attempts to “seek justice” were ill-founded, and they ultimately proved that they are more worried about perpetuating a particular narrative than they are about truth. Personally, I’m glad they protested, because now everyone in the country knows exactly how ridiculous they are.

To fill you in on the details, there was another shooting in Chicago (shocker right?). Police pulled over a car that they suspected had been involved in a prior shooting that evening. Sixteen-year-old Pierre Loury jumped out of the car, and an officer pursued him on foot. Loury allegedly aimed a gun at the officer, and he was subsequently shot by the officer.

Though he survived the minutes following the shooting, he was later declared dead at the hospital. A semi-automatic weapon (allegedly belonging to Loury) was found at the initial scene of the shooting.

Notice I didn’t mention the race of either the Loury or the officer.

Because when you point a gun at an officer, the color of your skin doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you’re a gangster or the Dalai Lama, you will be shot.

That fact seemed to be irrelevant to protesters, who decided to disrupt traffic on a major interstate in the name of justice. Of all the things they could choose to protest in Chicago, they chose this one? Are you serious?

Since the start of the year, 151 people have been shot and killed in Chicago, only 3 of which have been by police. That is 148 “civilians” being killed by each other. And we’re protesting the police?

I’m not going to argue that there isn’t ever police brutality. There are times when it has been proven that police have used unnecessary force to achieve their objectives. But those instances are few and far between. It’s not an act of injustice when a known gang member gets shot and killed because he points a deadly weapon at an officer.

I have a simple solution for everyone that will virtually eradicate situations when police have to kill someone in the line of duty (hint: it doesn’t involve rioting, looting, or stopping traffic on a major thoroughfare).

Don’t commit crimes.
