Injuries plague snow-covered campus

3:50 p.m.
A security officer was dispatched to Billingsly Student Center in reference to an injured person. Upon arrival, the officer found a Southern employee, who had fallen from the scaffolding he was working on. The scaffolding was estimated to be five feet from the ground.
The worker landed on his right side, injuring his ribs. He was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Theft

3:55 p.m.
Security was contacted in regard to the theft of a CD player. A student notified that someone had broken out the vinyl window of his soft-top car and stolen the CD player.
The student reported he had parked his car at approximately 9 p.m. the previous day, and discovered the theft after 3 p.m. the next day.
Joplin Police Department was contacted and reported to the scene to take a report.

A student contacted the security office, reporting that she had fallen on the ice, twisting her right ankle. She told security the fall had occurred on the sidewalk that runs between Hearnes Hall and Spiva Library. She went to the College nurse for treatment.
