Chart repeats Best In State

The Chart was named “Best In State” at the Missouri College Media Association’s annual convention on April 3, 2004, held at the Sheraton City Center, St. Louis.

This marks the sixth time The Chart has received the award. Previous years include 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2003.

Campus newspapers from 28 colleges and universities in Missouri competed at this year’s convention.

A team of judges selected the “Best In State” recipient from among the Best Overall Winners in the four divisions.

Judges comments included: “Spectacular paper that would do well in any competition – college or pro.”

Items submitted for competition came from issues published during the spring and fall 2003 semesters under the direction of Jerry Manter, editor-in-chief for 2003-2004, and Allison Rosewicz, editor-in-chief for 2002-2003.

The Chart and its staff also received 20 individual awards in Division II. The Chart also won the Sweepstakes award based on the placing of the individual entries.
