On April 6, the University of Missouri-Rolla Miners softball team swept Missouri Southern Lions in two games, winning both 1-0.

Southern had two hits and three errors in the first game at UMR, and the Lions had two hits and one error in the second game.

Amy Schneider, sophomore pitcher, threw for 5 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and earning one strike out. Callie Stanford, sophomore pitcher, took Schneider’s place for two-thirds of an inning but was not able to earn a save.

In the second game, Stanford pitched six innings, giving up five hits, one error and striking out four batters.

Southern has a record of 18-16 for the season and 3-3 for the MIAA.

The Lions will play Central Missouri State University at 3 p.m. Friday in Warrensburg. On Saturday, they will travel for a 1 p.m. start with Truman State University in Kirksville.
