J-Mac’s Corner…

Over the years, my DVD collection, as well as my family’s collection, has gone through the roof.

Ranging from every movie you could possibly think of to every television show, we have enough to own a Blockbuster.

With that, my family and I can quote almost all of the movies and television shows we have. You could say we are all movie buffs.

After going through the countless titles, a few have been deemed so quotable they are being honored for a “J-Mac’s Corner” award.

Number one: Bring It On had so many quotes; it was hard to decide for one. But, Torrance (Kirsten Dunst) said, “Courtney, this is not a democracy, it’s a cheerocracy, I’m sorry, but I’m overruling you.”

Number two: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers had one particular quote that made me laugh. “Would you like me to describe it to you or would you like me to go find you a box?” Legolas (Orlando Bloom) said to Gimly (John Rhys-Davies).

Number three: “There’s no crying in baseball.” (Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own) Any movie with Hanks is known to have memorable quotes.

Number four: “Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.” (Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story)

Number five: “Fortunately, I know how to counter it; the man who did the waking buys the man who was sleeping a drink; the man who was sleeping drinks it while listening to a proposition from a man who did the waking.” (Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl)

Number six is from the same movie. “You best start believing in ghost stories Miss Turner, you’re in one.” (Geoffrey Rush).

Number seven: “I’ve calculated your chance of survival, but I don’t think you’ll like it.” (Alan Rickman in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) Marvin the manically depressive robot is one of the funniest characters in the movie; every line he said cracks me up.

Number eight: “Someday you’ll understand that. Now, now … Here’s looking at you kid.” (Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca)

Number nine: “May the Schwartz be with you.” (Mel Brooks in Spaceballs)

Number nine: “Ray, when someone asks you if you’re a God, you say, ‘yes.'” (Earnie Hudson in Ghostbusters)

Number 10: “Welcome to earth.” (Will Smith in Independence Day)

Number 11: “They took a sharp, red hot poker, stick it up your nose, scramble things about a bit and then rip it all out through your nostrils.” (Rachel Weisz in The Mummy)

Number 12: “You see, we’re not ‘The Wonders’ right now. We’re ‘Cap’n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters.” (Steve Zahn in That Thing You Do)

There are so many other quotes on my list; it would take the whole Diversions page to cover them all.
