DPS extinguishes fire using gallon of water

5 p.m.

A Department of Public Safety officer was contacted in reference to a broken gas meter on the east side of Dishman Hall. There was no sign of any other damage to the meter and no sign of a gas leak. The gas company was contacted to replace the meter.

6 p.m.

DPS was dispatched to lot 25 in reference to a theft from a vehicle. The victim said a Sirius satellite radio was taken from her vehicle. The victim said she had locked the doors prior to the theft. The DPS officer found no evidence of damage and no other items appeared to be missing.

10 p.m.

A DPS officer was called to lot 43 in reference to a broken car window and stolen purse. The victim said her purse was hidden under the passenger seat with a jacket covering it. The purse contained a cell phone, debit card, personal identification, prescription drugs and some cash. JPD was notified and responded to the scene.

11:40 a.m.

DPS was called to the east entrance Matthews Hall. A smokers ash can had caught fire. The officer extinguished the fire using a gallon of water. No other damage was found.
