Team earns 6-3 record before conference play

Preparing to start conference play, the Missouri Southern men’s basketball team now stands with a 6-3 record.

On Nov. 22, the Lions played the University of Missouri-St. Louis in St. Louis. The Lions lost the game 92-84 in overtime.

Southern hosted the Freeman Sports Medicine/Chris Tucker Memorial Classic Nov. 25-26.

The Lions played Missouri Baptist University Nov. 25, losing 84-73.

Nov. 26, Southern beat Bemidji (Minn.) State University 74-60.

Bacone University came to Joplin Nov. 29 to play the Lions. Southern won 84-42.

Dec. 2-3, the men traveled to Pittsburg for the Pittsburg State Classic. On Dec. 2, they played the college of St. Joseph, winning the game 87-36.

Hannibal-LaGrange College played Southern Dec. 3. Southern won 73-52.

On Dec. 6, the Lions traveled to Tahlequah, Okla. to play the Northeastern State University Redmen.

The Redmen ended the Lions’ four-game winning streak with a 73-70 win.

Southern begins conference play Saturday when the Emporia State University Hornets come to Joplin. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
