A Department of Public Safety officer was contacted in regards to a wallet left at a computer terminal in the first floor of Spiva Library. The officer checked the wallet for identification. The wallet was returned to the DPS office, and the owner was contacted.

9:30 p.m.

A DPS officer found a purse while on patrol. The officer searched the purse for identification but could not find any. The purse was brought back to the office for the owner to identify and claim the contents. The purse had been found near the lobby of Matthews Hall.

Drug Law Violation

6:25 p.m.

A DPS officer received a call in regards to marijuana odor in the hallway of Gockel Hall. Upon arrival, the officer smelled the odor and, because it was so saturated, could not tell from where the odor had originated. The officer spoke with the caller and the caller said the smell had been there since the night before. The caller said she believed the smell was coming from one apartment above. The officer knocked on the apartment’s door, but no one answered. The officer tried to contact the occupants from the outside through the windows, but there was also no reply. The officer then contacted the residence advisor about the situation.

5 p.m.

A DPS officer observed the smelled of marijuana coming from an apartment. The officer called for another officer to meet him at the apartment. Upon arrival, the second officer smelled something like marijuana. The officers found the apartment where the smell was the strongest and knocked on the door. A male subject opened the door. The subject said his friend had just finished a cigarette and that was what was causing the smell. The officers asked to serach the room and the subject allowed. The officers did not locate anyting in the apartment. The friend said he was not smoking marijuana. The subject and his friend were advised they were under violation for smoking inside an apartment building.
