Chart takes second in best overal at convention

On April 8-9, The Chart staff attended the annual Missouri College Media Association convention in St. Louis.

The Chart won first place in the sweepstakes and special section categories. The newspaper also took second place in Division 2 best overall newspaper and in editorial page.

Staff members also won individual awards at the MCMA convention.

Auriel Brown, managing editor, took first place for news writing.

T.J. Gerlach, senior editor, took first place for sports writing, photo page design, second place for sports page design and honorable mention for sports column.

David Haut, former managing editor, won first and second place in the regular column category.

Jessica MacIntosh, editor-in-chief, received first place for news section front design and second place for Page 1 design.

Adam Fast, director of photography, received first place in news photography and third place in feature photography.

Hallie Hocker, staff writer, received second place in sports column.

Andy Tevis, design editor, took second place in feature photography and sports photography.

Dwayne Mactavious, cartoonist, received second place in the editorial cartoon category. Randall Benson, former online editor, took second place for Web page design.
