MSIPC Honors Audition on tap tomorrow

The Honors Audition sponsored by the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition will be held tomorrow in Webster Hall auditorium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The audition is open to the public and is free of charge.

The audition is offered to piano students up to age 18 residing in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Each participant performs a classical piano piece for a three-member jury, who will select up to five winners.

Winners will each receive a $500 cash prize and perform in a master class for the international judges on April 21 during the MSIPC.

They will be invited to all the performances and activities of the competition, where they will meet accomplished pianists from all over the world.

Honors Audition prizes will be awarded at the Gala Concert April 26th. Winners 16-18 years old will receive music scholarships to Missouri Southern.

Participants for the 2008 Honors Audition are: Bethany Mullins, Diamond; Seth Ernst, Joplin; Kripa Sreepada, Springfield; Marc Simon, Springfield; Taylor Cox, Carl Junction; Candace Block, Carthage; Hayley Mullins, Diamond; Clarissa Dodd, Neosho; Isaac Van Hoecke, Shawnee; Anna Speer, Stillwell; Abby Lingg, Wichita; Corinne Penner, Wichita; Dillon Worthington, Little Rock; Helen Oh, St. Louis; Dasol (Lexie) Kim, St. Louis; Robyn Meahl, Admire; Michelle Liu, Lee’s Summit; Christina Yuen, Overland Park; and Andrew McKnight, Morrisville.

The 12th MSIPC will be held April 21-26. Competition rounds are free of charge and open to the public. Evening concerts are free to students and seniors, who may obtain a student or senior pass by contacting the MSIPC office.
